Hoover Dam

 On September 30, 1935, Hoover Dam, originally named the Boulder Dam, was dedicated by President Franklin Roosevelt. Surrounded by a crowd of 10,000 people, the massive concrete dam, stretching 1,244 feet across the Black Canyon, sat on the Arizona – Nevada border as the largest dam in the world at the time of its completion.
